Vacation: Top 50 Ideas for 2016 (Part 5)

We’ve already brought you parts one through four of our list of the top 50 vacation ideas for 2016, and now we’re back with our fifth and final part! Check out the 10 best vacation ideas for this year below, and prepare to start planning your very own vacation! You might be surprised by what you see.

Number Ten: Vinales – Cuba. There’s more to Cuba than Havana, trust us! Vinales is home to tobacco fields, limestone outcrops, and hiking opportunities galore for people in search of the “real” Cuba.

Number Nine: Skane – Sweden. Skane is home to some of the most adventurous culinary projects in the world, and now is the time to investigate them. What’s so special about Skane is that all of the food is local, and it’s so diverse that the culinary possibilities are nearly endless.

Number Eight: Abu Dhabi – United Arab Emirates. Jean Nouvel’s Louvre Abu Dhabi is finally expected to open sometime in 2016, and you don’t want to miss it. There are also more upscale hotels opening in Abu Dhabi this year, and protected beach dunes make for a glorious and gorgeous getaway.

Number Seven: Toronto – Canada. Instead of Vancouver or Montreal, try visiting Toronto this year! The city is quickly becoming a cultural mecca in Canada, and it has some of the hippest coffee shops and restaurants in the country.

Number Six: Mozambique. Mozambique is quickly becoming one of the most open-minded countries in Africa, and it’s also a great vacation destination. Visitors can surf, snorkel, and just relax on the beaches in Mozambique.

Number Five: Theodore Roosevelt National Park – North Dakota. In August of 2016, the National Park Service will turn 100 years old. To celebrate, visit one of the United States’ most beautiful and historic parks, Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The park is home to understated dirt roads, many bison, and beautifully colored rolling hills.

Number Four: Coral Bay – St. John. This year might be the last for you to visit St. John’s Coral Bay before it’s overcome with tourists. An outlet mall has recently been proposed, as has a megamarina, so now is the time to experience Coral Bay while it’s still authentically its own.

Number Three: Malta. Malta is one of the most underrated vacation spots in the Mediterranean. It is insanely affordable and is also where Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie took their honeymoon.

Number Two: Bordeaux – France. Sure, sure, the Bordeaux region of France has always been a destination for oenophiles the world over, but this year is different. This year, La Cite du Vin will open in France’s Bordeaux region. La Cite du Vin is an institution devoted to educating the public about France‘s history with viticulture. Check out the institution and drink some wine while you vacation here.

Number One: Mexico City – Mexico. Finally, if you go one place in 2016, you should make it Mexico City. More and more young people are moving here to Mexico’s capital, and though it’s not a completely safe city, it is in the sweet spot of being both thrilling and richly rewarding as a vacation destination. We hope you enjoyed our list of the top 50 vacation ideas for 2016!
