The World’s 7 Best Beaches

For the average person, anywhere with a beach probably sounds like the perfect vacation destination. While almost any sun-soaked body of sand sounds heavenly to just about anybody, some beaches are just no match for the ones ranking at the very top. Whether in Brazil, Italy or Spain, taking a much-needed vacation at any one of these places could be the smartest decision of your life.

Number Seven: Anse Lazio, Praslin Island, Seychelles. Anse Lazio is a beach located in the northwest of Praslin Island, Seychelles, with soft, white sand and no pebbles. There is plenty of shade around, as takamaka trees and palms surround the entire beach. A net in the sea keeps all of the unwanted fish away, and a handy lifeguard is close by looking out for the swimmers. If you’re a big fan of sunsets, Anse Lazio is here to satisfy your romantic sensibilities.

Number Six: Playa de ses Illetes, Formentera, Spain. Spain! With crystalline waters and white sand, Ses Iletes is ideal for families who are looking for a vacation spot. Formentera is very popular with tourists, so many of the surrounding businesses are especially good at catering to international visitors. This is one of those beaches that offers a full resort experience; dolphin and whale watching cruises are especially popular. Fishing, surfing, boating, snorkeling – there is enough to keep anybody happy here.

Number Five: Whitehaven Beach, Australia. The award-winning beach of Whitehaven in Australia is one of the most exotic beaches on the planet, with gorgeous white 98% pure silica sand that is among the purest in the world. The sand doesn’t retain heat, unlike most sand on most beaches, which means you’re free to walk barefoot without burning the bottom of your feet. CNN named Whitehaven the top Eco-Friendly Beach in 2010, which is certainly an honor.

Number Four: Rabbit Beach, Lampedusa. Italy is one of the most sought-after vacation destinations on the planet, and Rabbit Beach is one of the best beaches in Italy or the world. Its popularity continues to grow year after year, and you’ll want to visit in April, just when summer begins for this region. The local cuisine is to die for, with Italian fish, fruit, vegetables, cheese and meat ready for your enjoyment. There is a lot of marine life to catch a glimpse of, especially with a rare species of turtle laying their eggs on an island right next to the beach.

Number Three: Flamenco Beach, Culebra, Puerto Rico. There is quite a lot to enjoy in the land of Puerto Rico; one of these things is Flamenco Beach. This cozy half-mile-long piece of land is in Culebra, which is 20 miles off the Northeast coast of Puerto Rico. During the day, you can find food and drinks for purchase in the parking lot, and you can grab a nice shaded seat underneath the pine trees. If you can bring your own supplies and equipment, you can even camp out on the beach.

Number Two: Grace Bay, Providenciales. Grace Bay is consistently rated as one of the best beaches in the world, and for very good reason. Located just off the Northeast coast of Providenciales, this roughly three-mile-long beach destination is the crowned jewel of the Turks and Caicos Islands. You’re not going to find any kind of pollution here; there isn’t a rock or a single strand of seaweed in sight. There is also very warm water and plenty of space to lay out on the sand.

Number One: Baia do Sancho, Brazil. Baia do Sancho is to the Northeast of the Brazilian mainland and definitely worth your time if you’re ever in Brazil. You’ll find sparkling emerald water and plenty of solitude, with snorkeling definitely being on the to-do-list due to the coral reefs. It’s surprising that such an amazingly beautiful peace of land is not littered with tourists at all times; if I were you, I’d book that last-minute flight to Brazil before anyone else gets any ideas.
