This is actually a house of sorts near Tofino, British Columbia.

Named Freedom Cove by its free-spirited artist creator/owners, this little Shangri-La on floats is a self-sustaining homestead, art studio, and gallery.

My creative Canadian compadres have built a home made of 12 floating platforms on the protected waters of Cypress Bay.

Wayne Adams and Katherine King started constructing their off-grid, self-sustaining home in 1992.

Adams and King grow all their own food on the floating home. Katherine, who is a retired ballerina, tends to the gardens, and her partner Wayne is a sculptor who does his work right there on the floating homestead.

I tried to find some interior pictures of the living quarters, but unfortunately there really weren’t any except these two:

This industrious duo welcomes visitors on occasion – mostly folks on whale watching expeditions – but Katherine and Wayne surely enjoy their privacy in this peaceful paradise.
