This tiny cottage in Maine was built by a green pre-cut building company called “Bungalow In A Box“.

We build an efficient, weathertight shell with minimal impact on your building site.
Our pre-cut components quickly assemble cottages, camps, garages, home offices and studios. Our unique framing technique joins low-maintenance, natural materials to create beautiful structures that last. Prefabricated interlocking, exterior-finish panels assemble quickly with minimal on-site waste.

A Bungalow In A Box home can be completely finished in a matter of days, apparently.

I first read about these adorable things on the Tiny House Blog. They featured photos of this particular “Bungalow In A Box” because it has been expanded with a newer addition.

According to http://tinyhouseblog.com, the homeowner is planning to use the miniature bungalow as a retirement pad and they wanted an outdoor workspace so they could enjoy the views and also entertain friends. So the bottom part of the new addition is basically a screened-in porch:

Inside the original structure is a cozy, warm space…

And a teeny-tiny kitchen area:

The bedroom is snuggled up in the pint-sized loft:

I don’t know if this bedroom situation would be ideal for most retirees, but the grandchildren would surely enjoy it!

If you are looking to downsize in a green and economical manner, check out Bungalow In A Box.

This charming bungalow reminds me of another little cabin featured on the Tiny House Blog that I also profiled a couple months ago. You can check out that owner-built Colorado cabin here.
