Meet me in Saint Louis – and pick the house you like best!

Today I’m featuring another 2-houses-for-sale-on-the-same-street comparison; this time in Saint Louis Missouri.

These homes are both gorgeous, both over 100 years old, AND they are actually RIGHT beside each other!

So let’s see which one will get your vote…

House #1

Priced at: $539,000

Built in: 1886

image from:

This 3-story Victorian home with mansard roof is meticulously maintained inside and out. It has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in 4,751 square feet.

The decor is classic and elegant…

One of the best features of this home is the library on the second floor mezzanine balcony that is open to the first floor:

And have a look at the remodeled kitchen…

Gourmet kitchen with granite countertops, double ovens, warming drawers, JennAir stove with warm copper accents can satisfy the most discriminating cook

Other selling points of this home include: “Pocket doors, crystal chandeliers, marble fireplaces, dumb waiter and a private sitting porch”.

How fun would it be to own a house with a dumb waiter?

In addition, the property comes with a remodeled 2b/2b carriage house which could be used as a guest house or rental!

[For more details on this home, see here.]

And now on to our second house – right next door…

House #2

image from:

Priced at: $424,900

image from:

Built in: 1901

image from:

This Romanesque Revival style home is only a few feet to the right of House #1 but is priced over $100,000 less! House #2 has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in 2,246 square feet.

As you can see from the interior photos, the cosmetics are a bit outdated, but it does have marvelous original features such as the un-painted woodwork, wood floors, and granite fireplace.

I’m not quite sure what this room is below…

image from:

Moroccan themed bathroom perhaps?

And the kitchen is “updated”, yet, dated…

image from:

See what I mean?

image from:

On the second floor there is a large master bedroom with a sitting area…

image from:

The third floor contains 2 additional bedrooms – 5 in total for this house!

It would take some effort to remove all the dated wallpaper and the wallpaper borders, but this house could shine just as much as House #1 with a little TLC, no?

Well what do YOU think?

Which house are you voting for?

(To all my American friends… aren’t you glad this bl**ping election is over today?!?)
