In east Denver’s historic Montclair neighborhood, you will find the 125-year-old Richthofen Castle. The turreted stone mansion was built by Baron Walter von Richthofen, a Prussian immigrant and Colorado mining entrepreneur. The Baron was also the uncle of the notorious WWI German fighter pilot, The Red Baron.

He modeled this stunning piece of architecture off a similar home in Prussia.

This magnificent Denver home has had multiple owners during the last century, but has been owned by Jerry and Esther Priddy since 1984.

According to the Denver Post, the Priddy’s decided it was time to sell because the castle required “substantial upkeep” and would have been “a terrible burden” for their children. No kidding.

The castle clocks in at 15,000 square feet and is listed for sale at $3.75 million.

The owners are selling off some of the ornate furniture and antiques separately.

The Priddys auctioned off the world’s largest collection of Red Baron memorabilia that they’d assembled over the years as well. According to local sources, the buyers are “Denverites with an appreciation for historic properties.”
