We already brought you part one of our list of things you didn’t know about Gwyneth Paltrow, and now we’re back with part two! Check it out for yourself below – you might be surprised by what you learn!

Number Seven: She Stands Up to Cancer

Paltrow’s dad passed away in 2002 due to complications after being diagnosed with oral cancer and pneumonia. Gwyneth and mother Blythe were deeply affected by their loss, and they co-founded the Oral Cancer Foundation to raise awareness and money in order to find a cure for the illness. They both have also donated thousands of dollars to the Stand Up To Cancer foundation.

Number Six: She’s Often Mistaken for a Brit

Paltrow lived in England for long periods of time after marrying Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin. She often tells the press how much she loves England and how much she misses it whenever she is back in the U.S. This might confuse journalists, who often wrongly identify her as British in their articles.

Number Five: She Follows a Macrobiotic Diet

Not really much of a secret, since Paltrow loves telling everyone all about her peculiar diet. This way of eating, popularized by the Japanese, consist of consuming whole cereal grains, vegetables, beans and sea vegetables almost exclusively. She often discusses her dietary methods in her books and articles.

Number Four: Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’ Was About Her

As the actress put it: “‘Fix You’ was about him trying to put me back together after my dad died.” The song, written for the band’s fourth studio album X&Y, was released in 2005, two years after the tragedy. The keyboard heard in the song used to belong to Bruce Paltrow.

Number Three: She Denies Winona Ryder’s Rumors

There’s been a rumor going on for years which claims that Gwyneth Paltrow stole her role in Shakespeare in Love from actress Winona Ryder. According to the aforementioned rumor, Paltrow, who used to be inseparable from Ryder, stole the script from Winona’s desk and went on to audition and win an Oscar. “I swear to God I did not, I’m raising my right hand on the Bible. I swear to God.” Whether it happened or not, both ladies haven’t been friends anymore ever since.

Number Two: Her Dad Loved Brad Pitt

Brad and Gwyneth met on set for Seven, in 1995. They dated for a couple of years, matching hairstyles and outfits, and even announced their engagement a year later. The couple finally split up in 1997. Paltrow claims to still have an amicable relationship with the actor, who was, in her words, “too good” for her. “My father was so devastated when we broke up. My father loved him like a son.”

Number One: Gwyneth Paltrow Can Ace a Texan Accent

The main reason why director Douglas McGrath decided to bring Paltrow to England to audition for Emma was because of her ability to flawlessly imitate accents. McGrath, who grew up in Texas, was impressed by Paltrow’s impeccable Texan accent in Flesh and Bone and was positive she would be able to pass as a British woman just as easily in his movie.
