The channel has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye; however, there are still some things about the channel that many people don’t know. Number Fifteen: Carrie Underwood Has More CMT Music Awards Than Anyone Else

Underwood has collected an impressive 13 of the channel’s music awards over the years. This is more than any other country artist.

Number Fourteen: Jason Aldean is the Most-Honored

Aldean has received the “CMT Artist of the Year” award five times. This is more than anyone else. Aldean received the award in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Number Thirteen: Its Longest-Running Non-Music Series Is Entering Its 11th Season

And that series is Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team. The longest-running music original series on the channel is CMT Crossroads.

Number Twelve: Tommy Hackenbruck Holds a Special Record

You might be familiar with the channel’s series called Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Challenge. However, what most people don’t know is that contestant Tommy Hackenbruck has the most successful record on the show. He had seven consecutive wins and was eventually eliminated in the third season.

Number Eleven: The CMT Awards Have Another Name

Before they were called the CMT Awards, they were called the CMT Flameworthy Video Music Awards. It shortened the name to the current one in 2005.

Number Ten: The First Episode of ‘CMT Crossroads’ Featured Elvis

The very first video featured on the channel was Faron Young’s performance of “Four in the Morning.” It launched in March of 1983.

Number Six: It’s Responsible for the First Live Telecast of the Grand Ole Opry

The channel carried the telecast in August of 2001. The Grand Ole Opry is a weekly concert featuring country music and is based out of Nashville, Tennessee.

The channel has gone through many taglines over the years. One of its first from the 1980s was “The Best Kept Secret in Nashville.” It’s not so secret anymore!

The channel’s website features many music videos by various country artists. Over the course of the past five years, the most-watched video on their website has been Carrie Underwood’s “Undo It.”

Number Three: It Got Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert Together

Shelton and Lambert met on the set of CMT’s 100 Greatest Duets. They adorably sang “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma” together.
