Owner Leslie Powell fell in love with the history of this 1777 former toll house in Litchfield Connecticut. The rich red-brown kitchen cupboards didn’t hurt either.

She and her husband purchased the farmhouse a few years ago with the intent of showcasing their period antiques. The added bonus was that the property came with a small building that was used as an antique shop.

Leslie leapt at the chance to open her own antique store (close to home) and she named her business, not surprisingly, Toll House Antiques.

Early American flavor permeates this home and harkens back to its days as a toll house on a Connecticut country highway.

The handmade Christmas decor just helps to accentuate that history. Leslie picked the adornment greenery from her own back yard

All of the primitive items fit so well in the old farmhouse, it would be hard to imagine it decorated any other way.
