I love these things! A couple years ago I featured an Orville Tracy Cottage that was for sale and it needed a little love. This one is in mint condition!

This 1929 cottage is located in Chico, California in the neighborhood of Eastwood Park.

Eastwood Park was one of the areas where Orville Tracy built his signature storybook style homes. The houses he designed in the 1920’s & 30’s had steeply pitched roofs and resembled English country cottages. Many of them are still around today.

Orville Tracy was also a well-known realtor in the area who helped form the Chico Board of Realtors. He was even president of that board a couple of times. The guy had a lot of influence on the charming nature of Chico’s now historic neighborhoods.

You can read more about him here.

Although this Orville Tracy cottage has been updated, it remains sensitive to the vintage craftsmanship that Tracy infused in it.

The kitchen is adorable with white custom cabinetry and a combination of Corian and butcher-block countertops.

In the middle of it all is a vintage Merritt O’Keefe gas range:

Although the home only has 2 bedrooms, there is a guest cottage in the backyard.

The taxes are only $1700 a year, which seems really decent for California. (California homeowners – correct me if I’m wrong on that!)
