Number Fifteen: Your Clothes Can Cause Acne

As if getting it one your face wasn’t enough, your clothes, particularly the ones you wear when you work out, can cause your body to break out. The rubbing of bra straps or even your shorts can cause a bad case of “friction acne”. This worsens with your workout clothes, especially because sweat is trapped inside of the fabric. To keep this from happening, it is important to shower directly after every time that you sweat.

When it comes to daily life, many of us have become accustomed to using chemical-based products that we don’t even realize may be causing us to break out. Fabric softeners, detergents, perfumes, and body sprays are just a few potential culprits that you may want to consider changing.

When it comes to beauty products, try to skip anything that lists any of the following breakout-causing chemicals: D & C red dyes, isopropyl myristate, isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl isostearate, butyl stearate, decyl oleate, isostearyl neopentanoate, isocetyl stearate, acetylated lanolin, and myristle myristate.

Even though this is the last possibility we consider when battling horrible back-acne, your problems could be caused by not properly rinsing the conditioner off of your skin. The petroleum-based products found in many hair conditioners will clog your pores something fierce if you don’t wash it completely off.

The key to fighting acne is to find an even balance between dry skin and hydration. Oily, over-hydrated skin is likely to produce more acne, as will intensely dry skin. To finally end your struggle, it is advised to play it by ear. If your face seems too oily, give it a nice cleansing and dry it out. If it is too dry, clean it and apply a noncomedogenic moisturizer.

Behind oily and dirty skin, stress is the major culprit to causing acne breakouts. Just worrying more than usual can cause your pores to produce oils in increased amounts, and ultimately damages your complexion. If you experience periods of time where you seem to be more prone to breaking out, stress could be your answer.

Crush up an aspirin tablet, and mix the powder with enough water to make a paste. Put it on the inflamed area overnight, and the redness will diminish.
