What do you picture when you think about national parks? Maybe some really tall trees, a man in high-waisted cargo shorts, and a sandwich in a plastic bag? Well, to put it lightly, these 24 national parks are not that. Located all over the globe, these national parks are truly national treasures. See for yourself below!
Number Six: Kalkalpen National Park, Austria. Covered in nooks and crannies for you to explore, this is Central Europe’s largest forest region. Fans of nature, rejoice!
Number Five: Thingvellir National Park, Iceland. No, Iceland’s national park is not covered in ice. Lots of hiking and diving can be done near Iceland’s largest natural lake, located in this park.
Number Four: Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. Glaciers tower over everything here, making the landscape resemble something out of a futuristic movie. This park is also home to the Cordillera del Paine.
Number Three: Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia. Known for its picturesque sand dunes, the color you see in the photos is a result of the sand oxidizing over time. The brightest dunes are also the oldest.
Number Two: Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona. Is it any surprise this made it on the list? Well it shouldn’t be, because it’s one of the world’s seven natural wonders.
Number One: Fiordland National Park, New Zealand. This park is so beautiful it’s even been written about in books. Lots of rain falls in this park, but that makes it all the more beautiful.
